Hong Kong Filming Locations and Permits

Hong Kong location scouting is often about finding places that work on camera and also work in the real building or street environment. Offices, hotels, rooftops, harbour-facing views, streets and malls all come with different access rules.

Loading access, security desks, lift timing and building restrictions can change the schedule faster than the visual brief does. A location manager or fixer usually needs to confirm those details before the crew list is final.

Public and private locations are handled differently in Hong Kong. Filming permits, location releases and property approval can all become part of the booking if the shoot touches a street, a lobby, a roof, a harbour edge or another controlled area.

Drone requests need early checks on safety, location rules and local restrictions. Not every site will allow it, and the schedule needs to reflect that rather than assuming flight clearance later.
